Hello fellow herbalists, foragers and the like! Today I would like to begin a weekly posting regarding ingredients to use when creating herbal products! At the start of the week I post about a particular herb that we ALL have around in our yard or you have seen out in fields and open areas just growing wild, and I now would like to add an important element which are the ingredients we use when making certain products. When making a homemade deodorant, I use organic fractionated coconut oil. Using organic products are not only the healthiest, but will also allow the final outcome to be the best it can be as well as the most natural. Another key ingredient is arrowroot powder. This is a very fine natural powder that is used not only as a thickening agent, but it helps soak up sweat/moisture. Now, when deciding on what scent you want your deodorant to be, it is vital to use 100% organic essential oils. In fact, anytime you use essential oils you should always use the best. I also make unscented deodorant for those that may have scent sensitivities.
Becoming an herbalist and designing/creating products to sell to others, is a very vulnerable job. You want everything to be perfect and of course you want your customers to fall in love with not only what you have made for them but to realize that we have the ability to use chemical free items on and in our bodies! Even just starting a natural journey by using homemade deodorant, is a very big step in taking care of our bodies and loving ourselves!
Keep foraging on and stay tuned for more!
